IMPORT PROCEDURE GUIDE FOR AIR PURIFIERS INTO VIETNAM

An air purifier shipment may be delayed not because the product is inherently complex, but because the commercial description is too generic, the HS code is misapplied, the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module is overlooked, the model is inconsistent across documents, or product labeling is not locked before ETA. This guide provides an E2E (End-to-End) compliance map for HS code, duties, sectoral policy, customs documents, clearance workflow and pre-ETA risk controls.

QUICK FACTS

Item Operational review point
Applicable product Electric standalone air purifiers for household/office use, whose principal function is air filtration/purification.

FAQ

Does an air purifier require an import license?

Do not conclude absolutely by product name. A standard new consumer model without Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/RF or medical claims is often handled under normal customs procedures, but the actual model and technical file must be reviewed.

What is the reference HS code?

8421.39.20 – Air purifiers. Final classification depends on the catalogue, datasheet, operating principle and goods condition.

Is Wi-Fi/Bluetooth relevant?

Yes. Wireless modules may trigger ICT/RF conformity and quality management review if the product is listed.

Is Vietnamese supplementary labeling required?

For goods circulated in Vietnam, labeling must be reviewed under Decree 43/2017 and Decree 111/2021.

Can C/O reduce duty?

Yes, where the C/O is valid and FTA conditions are met.

Are samples/warranty goods handled like commercial goods?

Not automatically; customs type and purpose should be reviewed.

E2E IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT FROM TGIMEX

This guide provides the compliance map. In actual shipment execution, the importer should review catalogue, datasheet, model, documents, origin and import purpose. For shipments with sectoral policy, C/O or labeling exposure, files should be checked before ETA; even a small discrepancy across invoice, packing list, catalogue, datasheet, C/O or label can cause document supplementation, delayed clearance or unplanned storage charges.

FOOTNOTE – TERMS

ETA: Estimated Time of Arrival; DEM/DET: demurrage/detention; C/O: Certificate of Origin; HS Code: Harmonized System classification code; Compliance: regulatory and sectoral-policy compliance; E2E: End-to-End workflow.
