Import Procedure Guide for Electric Fans

IMPORT PROCEDURE BY PRODUCT

IMPORT PROCEDURE GUIDE FOR ELECTRIC FANS

For electric fans, the key risk is not the generic product name but the distinction among 8414.51.10, 8414.51.91 and 8414.51.99, together with quality inspection, conformity, energy efficiency labeling, goods labeling and C/O. If the fan type, rated power, protective guard or additional functions are described incorrectly, the shipment may be queried, re-channelled, denied FTA duty preference or incur DEM/DET before clearance. This guide provides an E2E map for pre-ETA review.

Review principle

Do not group this product with refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners or storage water heaters. Each model needs catalogue/datasheet and label pictures for verification.

PRODUCT CLASSIFICATION & TECHNICAL IDENTIFICATION

The product should be described by function and technical configuration, not merely as “fan”. Minimum data points include fan type, rated power, voltage, blade diameter, number of blades, protective guard, oscillation, remote control, battery, mist/humidifying function, air purification or smart module.

Technical criterion Documents to check Risk if incorrectly described Suggested declaration description
Fan type Catalogue, pictures, user manual Misclassification among 8414.51.10, 8414.51.91 and 8414.51.99. “Electric standing fan, with protective guard, self-contained motor, capacity …W, model …, brand …”.
Rated motor power Datasheet, original label, test report If outside the 8414.51 scope, another subheading such as 8414.59 may apply. Declare rated power, voltage and frequency.
Protective guard Label pictures, actual photos, catalogue May affect classification under 8414.51.91 or another line. State “with protective screen/guard” only when evidenced.
Additional functions Manual, technical description, circuit/module data Mist, air purification, Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth or rechargeable battery may trigger extra policy. Separate main function from accessories and secondary functions.
Goods condition Contract, invoice, packing list, photos Used/refurbished goods may require additional review or may not be eligible. Use “brand new 100%” only when documents support it.

HS CODE – DUTY – C/O

Electric fans are commonly reviewed under heading 8414.51 when they are table, floor, wall, window, ceiling or roof fans with self-contained electric motors not exceeding 125W. Incorrect sub-classification may affect MFN duty, FTA C/O, specialized inspection and post-clearance explanation.

IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT FROM TGIMEX

This guide outlines the HS, duty, documents and specialized policy map for electric fans. In real shipments, enterprises still need model-by-model review based on catalogue, datasheet, documents, origin and import purpose.

Pre-ETA review

HS, MFN/FTA/VAT, C/O, quality inspection, conformity, energy labeling and model risks.

Compliance document control

Cross-check Invoice, Packing List, B/L/AWB, C/O, catalogue, reports, labels and technical files.

International logistics & customs

Coordinate agents, carriers, ETA, pre-alert, customs declaration and channel handling.

Post-clearance archive

Maintain shipment files and support label/conformity/energy-label follow-up.

For shipments with specialized inspection, C/O or labeling requirements, enterprises should not wait until the cargo arrives before reviewing documents. A minor discrepancy among Invoice, Packing List, catalogue, datasheet, C/O or labels may cause additional document requests, clearance delay or unplanned storage costs.

TGIMEX supports an E2E import execution plan: pre-ETA policy review, document checking, international transport coordination, customs declaration, clearance handling, inland delivery and post-clearance file retention.
