IMPORT PROCEDURE GUIDE FOR ONT/ONU

ONT/ONU is an optical network terminal/unit used in FTTH, GPON or EPON access networks. It is commonly imported with a power adapter, LAN ports, optical ports and, in some models, integrated Wi‑Fi. If the shipment is declared only as “network equipment” or “optical modem” without clarifying function, transmission standard, model and radio configuration, Customs may request HS explanation, catalogue/datasheet, ICT conformity documents or labeling documents.

A minor mismatch among Invoice, Packing List, catalogue, original label, C/O and model list may cause document inspection, denial of preferential C/O treatment, DEM/DET costs or delay in telecom project deployment. This article provides an E2E (End-to-End) review map before ETA: HS code, taxes, specialized policy, customs documents, clearance process and risks to block before cargo arrival.
